"The Eucharist is the point where God
and the soul meet --
God with all His graces,
the soul with all its wants."
"Adora" ...to the mouth (of God). To adore is to be "mouth to mouth with God, properly aligned to the divine source, breathing in God's life".
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is an ancient, prayerful devotion believed to be in existence as early as the 4th century with St. Basil. It is the coming in prayer before the Real Presence of God found in the exposed Blessed Sacrament. The Blessed Sacrament is exposed in a "monstrance" (gold stand) so that the Host is clearly visible to all who come to pray. Eucharistic adoration is the act of worshiping God as He is the consecrated Eucharist. Since the Last Supper, when Jesus broke the bread and distributed the wine, saying, "This is my Body" and "This is my Blood," Catholics have believed that the bread and wine are no longer merely baked wheat and fermented grape juice, but the actual living presence of the Second Person of the Trinity. Spending time before the Blessed Sacrament, in prayer and devotion, is exactly the same as spending time before the living God. Adoration occures whenever someone kneels in front of the tabernacle that contains the Blessed Sacrament, genuflects toward the tabernacle, bows before receiving the Blessed Sacrament at Mass, or, in a more focused way, when the Blessed Sacrament is exposed for adoration.
We come to Adoration to be with Jesus in the Eucharist (Blessed Sacrament), to pray to Him, to listen to Him, to rest in Him, and to keep Him company.
You are invited to make a Holy Hour before the Blessed Sacrament.
We ask that you arrive a few minutes before your hour begins. Please sign in to acknowledge that you are present for your hour. A book for prayer intentions is available for your use. Remain until your hour is finished and the next adorer has arrived.
Arranging substitutes:
Your commitment is a vital link in a chain that assures that Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is never alone. It is your responsibility to find a substitute as soon as possible.
